How did you get started with Germain?
We actually heard about Germain from a 10 year old! Our current car was falling apart after 12 years. A current member and friend’s daughter told me that her dad gets a new car every week. I saw my friend soon after, and he said it was all true and told me the whole story behind Drive Germain. We were originally going to do it between selling our old car and getting a new car, but that was January 1st, and we are still members. We don’t want to buy a new car because it is almost too much commitment.
What did you think when you first heard about Drive Germain?
We started doing some research on subscription and initially my husband thought the price was high because we hadn’t had a car payment in so long. Once we looked into the kind of car we wanted we realized it would be on par with what it costs to own when you add in insurance, maintenance, and everything else. My husband is cheap and spreadsheet oriented, and analyzes everything very closely. It always sounded like a great deal to me, but then he realized it was a good deal as well, which is huge. He has even started selling it to people!
What does subscription mean to you?
Drive Germain means freedom, spontaneity, and not being tied down or held back. We used to own 3 homes and cars, but we couldn’t sell the houses. Having something that we can stop whenever we want is great and not owning something is a gift. In addition, Germain is exciting and stress free. We were in an accident - someone rear ended me. It was so easy. We pushed the concierge button, and they handled everything. It is almost like driving your parent’s car again. I don’t have to worry about being a grown up and dealing with owning my own car!
What are your most memorable experiences with Drive Germain?
Drive Germain makes carpooling fun! There are three kids at school that are Drive Germain members, and whenever I pull up at carpool, there was a whole group of kids that were waiting to see what car I would pull up in. It introduced a whole new dynamic to carpool since the car is always changing and the kids don’t know what car I’m in. And in general, I like to flip out of the mom car once in awhile. The jeep is a great non-mom car. One time, I drove into the school parking lot and the security officer mentioned that she thought I was a senior in highschool. That would not have happened with our old car!
